Independence Day Kite festival organized by the Midwest Winds Kite Fliers. July 1st, LaVista, Nebraska
These big kites are staked to the ground.
This big one was finally aloft. Even though the kite was black, it was trailed by red, white and blue tails.
The kids favorite activity was the candy drop. Don is loading a basket with chocolate candy.
The candy basket is suspended from the kite...
...and maneuvered over the waiting children.
Everyone tries to find a good spot...
...to catch the candy as it drops.
On the other end of the field these two kites were flying in formation.
It's harder than it looks. The kites move very fast.
